How to nominate someone to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame
The journey to the hallowed halls of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame begins with a simple application that any member of the public — even you — can submit right now. Once per year, independent committees of experts in each category of membership consider these nomination applications and then select the ballot for each year’s induction ceremony.
Finally, voters — including living Hall of Fame members and specially chosen representatives of the AMA — select that year’s crop of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductees. Categories of Motorcycle Hall of Fame membership include the following:
Applications must be received by December 31 of each year to be included in for the following year’s ballot.
Submissions become the property of the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation.
Categories of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of FAme
Ambassador/Industry
Individuals who have worked to make American motorcycling better through promotion in the media, by organizing events, projecting a positive image of motorcyclists through their own actions or reputation, and individuals who are employed in the motorcycle industry working as motorcycle or accessory manufacturers, distributors, dealers, the motorcycle press, photographers, artists, motorcycle organizations or other related occupations.
Design/Engineering
Those who design and engineer unique motorcycles or motorcycle features for use on production or custom machines and related products.
Leadership/Motorcycle Rights Advocates
Those who work with or in government at a state, local or federal level to protect the rights of motorcyclists; individuals who promote safety and rider training or advance street, trail or competition motorcycle riding opportunities.
Dirt Track
Racers, team managers, tuners, mechanics, officials and others who excelled in dirt-track competition, including but not limited to: short track, half mile, mile, TT and speedway racing.
Motocross/Supercross
Racers, team managers, tuners, mechanics, officials and others who excelled in motocross and/or Supercross competition.
Off-Road
Racers, team managers, tuners, mechanics, officials and others who excelled in off-road riding and competition (enduro, ISDE, desert, off-road grand prix, etc.).
Roadracing
Racers, team managers, tuners, mechanics, officials and others who excelled in roadracing competition.
Specialty Competition
Racers, team managers, tuners, mechanics, officials and others who excelled in other forms of motorcycle competition not covered in the above categories. This would include drag racing, land-speed records set at the Bonneville Salt Flats, hillclimb and more.
